The utilization of dental implants as a viable tooth replacement option can provide predictable, aesthetic, fixed or removable and functional implant prosthesis to improve the quality of life for our patients.

Proper treatment planning followed by precision in execution of surgical placement of dental implants can yield high survival rates for the final implant prosthesis. Implant surgery has inherent risks and complications documented in the scientific literature and in clinical practice. This work shop will highlight the general principles for implant placements and to avoid surgical complications or misadventures.

Course Objectives

The model based hands on course will serve as an introduction to principles in surgical placement of dental implants. A step by step protocol to achieve success in osseousintegration of dental implants will be covered with the following topics:

Fundamentals in implant treatment planning and utilization of cone beam computer tomography (CBCT)
Goals of implant surgery
Decision making for various surgical guide options
Drill protocols for optimal osteotomy preparation
Osteotomy preparation for various bone densities
